Milwaukee Business Journal: Q&A: Frontier technology consortium aims to connect startups with investors
The Wisconsin Frontier Technology Consortium launched this year with the goal of increasing commercialization of technologies such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics and quantum computing.
Supported by a $950,000 grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp., the organization brings together large players in the state’s technology sector as well as smaller entrepreneurs.
Among the programs rolled out by the consortium is the gBETA Frontier Technology accelerator, which focuses on early-stage startups in the region. Applications for the free, seven-week accelerator opened May 7
The Milwaukee Business Journal spoke with Wisconsin Technology Council President Maggie Brickerman, whose organization leads the consortium, about the group’s next steps, outlook and impact on the Wisconsin community.
Brickerman’s responses in the Q&A below were edited for length and clarity.
