Milwaukee Business Journal: Applications open for new accelerator targeting early-stage startups
Applications have opened for the Wisconsin Frontier Technology Consortium’s new gBETA Frontier Technology accelerator, which is focused on early-stage startups in the region.
The program is a free, seven-week, zero-equity accelerator that provides startup founders with coaching and access to gener8tor’s network of mentors, customers and investors across the state and the country, according to a press release.
It will focus on startups advancing innovation in sectors such as advanced materials, advanced sensing, artificial intelligence, energy storage, intelligent systems, robotics and quantum computing and sensing, the consortium said.
The program begins July 9 and will be hosted at Waukesha County Technical College.
“We are thrilled to launch this accelerator to create stronger pathways for emerging companies to grow here, scale here and help shape Wisconsin’s innovation economy,” Wisconsin Technology Council President Maggie Brickerman said in a statement.
The consortium launched with the support of a $950,000 grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp.
It is led by the Wisconsin Technology Council; members include the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, gener8tor, Waukesha County Technical College and the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce.
It aims to accelerate commercialization of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, advanced materials and quantum computing, according to a February WEDC press release.
