In Business: Five UW–Madison projects receive DOE funding

The University of Wisconsin–Madison will receive five awards ranging from $500,000 to $750,000 to support projects that seek to address the nation’s most important energy, scientific, and engineering challenges.

The grant awards, aimed at advancing nuclear energy, critical mineral extraction and commercial fusion energy, were announced July 22 by the U.S. Department of Energy during the first annual Genesis Mission Summit in Washington, D.C.

The Genesis Mission brings together DOE’s national laboratories, universities and partners to collaborate on energy, science and national security projects, and it is focused on using artificial intelligence and advanced computing to support scientific research.
