Joining representatives of Phenomenelle Angels Fund 1 LP will be:
? Dr. Connie Li of TrafficCast International. TrafficCast, which is based in Madison, provides traffic information in the United States and China. TrafficCast calculates how cellular phone signals bounce from tower to tower along major highways to develop models of traffic flow. The traffic information is then relayed to customers.
? Carolyne Turner of Information Development Consultants, a Chicago-based firm that develops and implements fund accounting software solutions for government and not-for-profit organizations.
Phenomenelle Angels launched its fund in May, announcing $2.3 million in initial capital commitments and plans to raise $7.7 million more. The fund plans to put between $100,000 and $500,000 in each deal and it expects to invest in three to four deals a year for four to six years.
Phenomenelle Angels is positioned to fill four gaps in the investment community: funding for early-stage companies in Wisconsin and the Midwest; funding for women and minority-led ventures; the gap between angel or seed funding and typical early-stage venture capital; and the gap in investments by accredited women investors. Despite reports that women control more than 50 percent of the wealth in the Midwest, fewer than 8 percent are angel investors.
