Applied Principles in Biomanufacturing - certificate course

This certificate course will take place June 22-26, 2009 in Madison, Wisconsin.  Participants will learn via hands on activities in a biomanufacturing lab combined with lectures from experienced industry experts.  Information and knowledge obtained from the certificate course will allow students to bring real value back to their employers.

Value
The course will focus on key scientific and regulatory areas of manufacturing biological products including:
Day 1 - Product Development and Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control (CMC)
Day 2 - Process Development and Regulatory Affairs
Day 3 - cGMP, Process Design and Fermentation
Day 4 - Biological Manjufacturing and Purification
Day 5 - Quality Control and Validation

Results
Upon completion of this intensive certificate course, participants will be able to:
- Perform gene clining and construct verification, bacterial fermentation, protein purification and final product analysis
- Describe the product development process for biologics
- Explain the importance of CMC, quality control and regulatory affairs
- Design a process for manufacturing a biologic product
